Just add orange juice and stir, champagne cocktail. Quiet evening so far, watching the farcical goings on at the Lord family manor. Contemplating a little disco action later on this evening.

I'm sick of creating the 'new' it always seems to be such an obstacle in painting, then again, it is so much easier to balance this quest/thirst yes, because I thirst for it...the 'new' with the authentic. I unchain the dogs that bear their teeth in a typical idiosyncratic way, this energy creates a dynamism and vitality that I enjoy- a solid basis for work that is free from superficiality or overly conceptual gimmicks. I often gain access to the interior world and soul mine the internal, losing self and therefore discovering my omissions that make life/work interesting. I am amazed at how I can sometimes overly 'preselect' which in turn robs my work of vitality. Automatic writing, combining, destroying and playing breaks items down so I can reframe and form, even in the most superficial of moments, the most sporadic of posts, items or drawings I can see conscious decisions being made, analog clicks and patterns that present a litany of visuals, sounds, connections and patterns, found at last! This is my present tense where I can spill out in order to mine the rich meaty chewy marrow of substance and sustenance.

Sound bites, collage and post pop turntablism from Fantastic Plastic Machine. These shoes are amazingly orthopedic looking but extremely comfortable. Brit Pop Teens later released a statement apologizing for being 'stupid'. Over the counter counter-culture, what are you selling, I ain't buying. Last but not least, great art is often found in the most unexpected places!

Itchy to play with this. Build your own movie studio with LEGO bricks, then connect the PC LEGO movie camera. Live action, stop motion or both? You're the director. The decision is yours! That's not all! The easy-to-use editing software included in the set allows you to add sounds and cool special effects. Paradigm shifts, trickle down effect of play crazy kids with a vision. Filmmaking is becoming increasingly affordable for all but is this really Hollywood's nightmare?

You look in people's faces as you come roaring toward them. You see the fear in their eyes and it makes you ride faster and more reckless because to be noticed is to be somebody and to have people fear you is even better...1960s Pulp Novel. Mark Morrisroe. U.S. Photographer; beautiful and bad. Punk fanzine editor of DIRT. His mother was a drug-addicted prostitute. he left home at 13 and started to hustle. A disgruntled john shot him and he carried the bullet in his chest his entire life. With raw enthusiastic energy he shot sexually charged photos and self portraits that formed a compelling visual diary. He contracted HIV, and towards the end of his life he spent so much time in the hospital that he set up a dark room in the ward bathroom. When he died over 2000 Polaroids were found along with some Super8 films. Romantic murky shadowy frightening but most of all savage and beautiful.

Purity and Silence. It's difficult to accurately represent Johannes Vermeer, painter of light. The work fails miserably in digital reproduction. While the paintings themselves appear smooth, buttery, almost glassine-they leave out an essential component; surface texture. Vermeer applied paint in dabs and pricks as to slightly raise the surface of the work, to reflect light even more. The Vermeer surfaces in person appear like crushed pearls that often move into impasto or mosaic, they actually catch light on the surface and the paintings resonate with a tone not often found in the work of other masters. But this is just like Vermeer, to work in such a simple, intrinsic, perfectly paired down manner. What at first appears anecdotal, seems suddenly essential. Perfection resides from things not the idea of them. (More via Jonno).

Today Italiano, Marzo ... as the days grow longer and the weather warmer, a spring thaw here with crocus and tulips barely breaking ground. Harder to concentrate, harder to sit inside the university and study, examine, and perform research as the cycle of renewal begins. Marzo, from the Roman God of war Mars. Juno conceived Mars by touching a wildflower. The Irish call March Mharta. The Anglo Saxons, Hrethmonath in recognition of Hera, the greek equivalent of Juno. Perhaps the Franks reference Lentzinmanoth or renewal month, the most appropriate of all. Wednesday the vernal equinox as the days begin to outlast the nights and the symbolism of birth and renewal takes form in eggs, apples, the sun a metaphor for brighter, longer warmer days. The equidistant cross, the symbol of crucifixion for Christians and a sign of balance and equilibrium for others. All foretelling the coming of Aprile, the month of the pink moon, the mighty Aphrodite, the goddess Eoste, the god Loki (April Fools day) and yes, at last...change.

Snow today, sparkly and white glistening like icing as the sun shines on; faux glass like quality splintering in the moist air. Discount shopping today (Medium) Massimmo shirts that I can barely push my biceps through. Gee...curling really does help. Feeling aggressive strong, highly charged, highly creative, funny and attractive. Wanting hot tea and gray sweatshirts, feeling very ornery and good.
