Check it out as Cyndi Lauper gives a a very cool shout out to readers of Jockohomo regarding her upcoming True Colors Tour.

Cyndi Lauper, Erasure, Debbie Harry, The Dresden Dolls, The Gossip and The Misshapes with host Margaret Cho take the celebration of the first annual True Colors Tour to support the Human Rights Campaign. The 15 city nationwide tour, presented by Logo, kicks off Gay and Lesbian Pride Month on June 8th at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The concert features 5 hours of nonstop music with other exciting guests appearing on select dates throughout the tour including Rufus Wainwright, Rose O’Donnell and The Indigo Girls with additional guests to be announced.

The tour is a celebration of the basic values and freedoms that should be shared by all Americans. The tour was conceived by Cyndi stemming from her desire to give back to the community for the love and support they have given her throughout her career.     I can’t wait till the next time somebody in my presence mentions Judy or Liza or Barbra or Cher or Liz or whoever. Who has done fukken what exactly for us other than take our money? To be sure, La Lauper isn’t the first (Jimmy Sommerville bankrolled ACT UP/London and Elton sure has done his share), but this gesture hits me as being so magnanimous and thoughtful and puttin it on the LINE that in my opinion she has totally raised the bar.

    I don’t know that I would have picked HRC as the group of choice, but on balance, I’m down.

    (BTW Jim, I’ll be hitting your town Friday around 6pm and heading home around lunch on Sunday. Hoping we can meet up in the interval.)
