Strung Out on Jargon

Gangs of Iraq

Joe’s coverage of Cpl. Adam Kokesh, Iraq vet, anti-war activist, UMSC reservist, and AMERICAN HERO’s fight to keep his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps got me thinking about the hypocrisy of condemning a man for speaking out for what he believes is just and true. Now Radar reports about active gang members serving in the U.S. Military with it’s Gangs of Iraq coverage. “Desperate to shore up its flagging ranks, the military is quietly enlisting thousands of active gang members and shipping them to Iraq. Will a brutal murder finally wake up the Pentagon? A ghost army of gangbangers presents a terrifying challenge for the military. It is ’setting the stage for a disaster,’ says one longtime military advisor…Lax enlistment standards have inadvertently allowed known members of the Crips, Bloods, Latin Kings, and various white supremacist groups to join the military” What’s even more ridiculous is when Radar yanks the chain of an Army recruiter trying to enlist as Harvey Fierstein see Prank Call to Arms.

It’s a shame that CPL Kokesh is having his discharge changed. I’m glad he’s standing up for what he believes in.

This is ridiculous. It amazes me that military leaders will allow white supremacists and violent criminals to serve while kicking out men and women for being gay.
