Strung Out on Jargon

Independence Day

The Preamble to the United States Declaration of Independence reads: We hold these truths to be self-evident (with feathers, glitter and marching bands), that all men are created equal (but not if you’re gay), that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain Inalienable rights (to grill meat, eat coleslaw and detonate explosive devices on July 4), that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

*Nick Boffo (of the The Boffo Bros) tune was created for the WFMU 60 second song contest, thanks to that fine station for turning me on to new music and for providing Nick’s mp3. Tune into to WFMU and support them with a generous donation.

About the only thing I celebrate on the fourth these days is our independence from England.
