Strung Out on Jargon

7 Years of Jockohomo

Hey, not bad for a shy midwestern guy, seven years! Seven years of Jockohomo, and as always AD free! Below is a self portrait of what I looked like when I started, this is what I look like now, except there’s a pack of Kools and a bottle of Crown Royal on my desk.

That said, I don’t really have a blog Daddy to blame for all of this, but I do have a blog Mom, and that would be Annie and her weblog Out of Order, thanks Annie. There’s been quite a few high points over the years, like being featured in Art Forum not for my Art work, but for the weblog. A few low points, okay well…several, I won’t mention those. Picking up a lifetime achievement award somewhere, a special mention for ancient gay history somewhere else. I’d like to say thank you if you’re reading, thanks for putting up with all my crazy ideas. Okay I don’t want to get too mushy or anything but a big thanks to all the other bloggers, all the readers and all the cool men and women I’ve had the pleasure of meeting or getting to know over the years. So yea, seven years, Happy Birthday Jockohomo, you’ve been good to me.

  5. CraigF September 17th, 2007 10:05 am

    Yay!!!!

Y’know when I started writing software, this was the very first thing I did. I wrote a routine in assembler to “read” a photograph image file and write the pixel values direct to either the print device or a file.

    Yours is VERY nice.

  6. Jocko September 17th, 2007 10:13 am

    Happy New Year !!

Of all the blogs I look at, yours is my all time favourite – kinda think you must be a made up guy (are you a virtual gay?) – Jockohomo reflects many of the same rather bizarre set of interests that I’ve collected over the years. From one slightly anachronistic gay with an eye to physical fitness and the visual and acoustic arts to another – thank you, thank you, and thank you again

  9. docmarvy September 17th, 2007 11:13 am

Indeed. Congratulations. Jockohomo has been a blog-inspiration for me and remains at the top of my RSS.

    Jocko:

Love your blog & I read it regularly. Smart, well-written & always full of surprises. I judge its value by the disappointment I feel when you’re not posting. Usually, a lot!

    Best,

    Jim Cory

  23. piersgavestonjr September 17th, 2007 4:17 pm

    happy birthday
my blog will be two in four days, so you are still ahead of me.
And thank you…for the music ( no, abba does not get a royalty for that), the images, and for being a man.
Which reminds me, I saw a close up of Bret Favre yesterday. He is going gray on the edges, and looks hotter than ever. Getting traded from the Falcons is the best thing that ever happened to him.

  24. Kevin September 17th, 2007 4:40 pm

  54. brendadada September 24th, 2007 8:51 am

Good grief! To both the 7 years and the 53/4 comments. Congratulations re both.

I’ve been searching for the name of the photographer/s who took the original Silt Cut advertising photographs for Saachi and Saachi, and your blog has appeared somehow in the search results. I’m doing some work on metonymics and visual tropes in photography, if that explains my interest.

Anyway, hello again, very glad to have found you. You’re in my RSS reader. :)

  55. A B September 25th, 2007 1:07 am

Congratulations – still here reading – although it’s been only three years for me.

Really appreciate your blog – and it’s nice to see your face for a change. VERY nice face.
    :)

  56. A B September 25th, 2007 1:10 am

And btw, any idea where I can find a filter like the one used to create the hot retro-text pict of yourself? I remember when they used to sell those on T-shirts in Santa Monica. Very cool! :0
